Double Redirecting to Completely Cloak Affiliate Links
With all the focus on cloaking affiliate links, more and more people are exploring ever more creative methods of actually doing so. Of course, if you're completely non-tech-savvy you might not want to carry out the cloaking yourself, and if so there are several attractive options for link cloakers out there. However, many of them really use a very basic and easy method that simply consists of double redirecting!
Essentially, one of the earliest methods of link cloaking was to simply redirect from a different URL. Therefore you could create a folder on your website that was called: www.yourwebsite.com/productname and then have it redirect to your actual affiliate link. In part, this was quite effective as people wouldn't actually see the affiliate link until they clicked on the link itself and the page loaded.
But on the other hand, they would see it soon enough.
In order to work around this, one of the things that some link cloakers began to do is redirect not once, but twice! So there would be a very quick redirect to the affiliate link, and then a second redirect to a website of your choosing. If you're having problems understanding that, don't worry - it isn't all that hard to envisage!
Let's assume you have a website called www.mywebsite.com, and your affiliate link is www.product.com/?hop=3243.
What your double redirect would do would be to have a folder called www.mywebsite.com/product redirect to www.product.com/?hop=3243 and then quickly redirect again to www.product.com.
Because the redirect takes place so quickly (in a matter of split seconds), the customer is barely going to even notice that it happened. Instead, you'll simply gain 'credit' by the form of the cookie, and then the main website will be displayed. Because it has gone through the second redirect, the URL displayed in the URL bar will be simply www.product.com, instead of the customary affiliate link.
All said and done, this is a tremendously effective way of handling the issue of cloaked affiliate links. Not only does it mean that you cash in on the benefits that it provides, but it also will enable you to explore an entire wide new range of flexibility - which is appealing in its own right too!
Be sure to learn as much as you can about this method of cloaking affiliate links. It is almost invariably going to come in handy sooner or later. Should you master this method, you'll find that you're able to really rocket your sales past your previous limits, and the overall effect it will have on your marketing is nothing less than profound.
